| Date for the diary: BVA Plate 2008 | 2007-11-07 | |
| The date for the BVA Plate is Saturday 31st May and Sunday 1st June. As usual the AGM, which requires attendance from all clubs, will take place around midday on the Sunday. The venue is still to be confirmed. This is due to the new date for the SEVA tournament and the new Regional Championships (replacing the County/Area cup) in May. We’ve had to move it backwards a little but we’ve managed not to clash with bank holiday weekends or, hopefully, major football events! |
| BVAs Top Referee | 2007-11-07 | |
| BVA Referee Co-ordinator Greg Thompson was recently upgraded to NVL Grade 1 at the EVA Referee Conference in September. The committee would also like to congratulate Greg on successfully passing his FIVB International Beach Volleyball Referee’s course in the summer, one of only three people in the country to hold this grade. All set for London 2012 then! |

| Development League Update | 2007-02-16 | |
The first round of matches last night were a great success; played in a really good friendly yet competitive manner. For the record, Newbury Juniors beat Chiltern 2-1, and Newbury Juniors and Chiltern beat Newbury PC (Padworth College) 2-0. Padworth started a bit slowly, and they played without any experienced player. As the evening went on, they improved enormously, and whoever plays them next had better look out. There were quite a lot of spectators, and a number of them commented on how good the standard was, considering how many players had never played in a match before, so well done to everyone.

Her team beat Chiltern 21-15 in the final. For more information click here |
| Didcot win men's playoff | 2006-04-23 | |
| Didcot won the men's division 1/2 playoff, beating Spikeopaths and Chiltern 1. Chiltern adapted to the early start better that Spikeopaths, winning the first game 25-14, and also took an early lead in the second set before Spikepaths fought back to lead 19-18, but seven consecutive points for Chiltern won them the second game 25-19. Didcot also looked as if they would have preferred a lie-in, but still beat Spikeopaths 25-19, 25-16, to set up a decider with Chiltern. Didcot won the first game 25-20, but Chiltern took the second 25-15, taking the game to a nail-biting decider which Didcot won 15-12. |
| Farnborough win Development League | 2006-04-21 | |
Farnborough won the inaugural BVA Development League by beating Vodafone and Maidenhead at St Gabriel\'s School, Newbury. On a remarkable evening, when Vodafone needed to win only one set to become champions, Farnborough held their nerve to beat Vodafone and Maidenhead to win the league by a single point. Yet again, the games we extemely close, and the games were played with great spirit. It was a pleasure to see players on court laughing whether they won or lost. The results and league tables are available on Newbury Volleyball Club\'s website. For more information click here |

| Farnborough got off to a winning start in the development league, beating both Maidenhead and Newbury with some disciplined volleyball, letting the opposition make the mistakes. Maidenhead secured their first win against Newbury. Linda Bold and Pete Parsons did stirling work refereeing, with Linda taking her linesmen and women aside to give them instructions before each match, so we now also have some well organised linesmen and women. |
